The
" target="_blank">Commonwealth Games, though created many obstacles for the people of Delhi, have surely opened new paths for technology. To believe this, we should see the first-of-its-kindin the world-Radius Infratel's deployment of NANO platform for triple play-video, voice, and data at
" target="_blank">Commonwealth Games Village (CWGV) using Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) solution.
It is for the first time ever in India where thirty-five channels of High Definition (HD) content covering the games through broadcast, is being relayed through shared " target="_blank">FTTH network (Nanonet) deployed by Radius in CWGV, which is exclusive for 1,200 flats in HD mode along with IPTV of Airtel. The carrier for HD broadcast is MTNL, and the final stream with IPTV will be from Airtel through a single fiber deployed by Radius. This is not all. Radius Infratel is providing operational advantage in the form of single infrastructure for multiple service providers. Along with ultra high bandwidth of upto 100 Mbps, consumers can avail ready information through IVRS and web enabled services by deploying the NANO platform.
“Deployment of " target="_blank">FTTH network through NANO platform has never been done so far anywhere in the world. Our NANO platform has been successful in meeting the challenge, and has been widely deployed at the " target="_blank">Commonwealth Games village,” says HS Singh, director, Radius Infratel.
Radius Infratel has been appointed as the official technology partner by the organizing committee CWG 2010 Delhi, and will offer services such as VOIP and FAX through a single integrated infrastructure.
Radius Infratel's partner is " target="_blank">Ericsson,the leading telecom solution and service provider.During the " target="_blank">Commonwealth Games, " target="_blank">Ericsson will be managing the network 24x7, supporting the communication needs of 8,000 dignitaries, athletes and team officials staying in the village spread over an area of 63.5 hectare (158.4 acre) with fourteen blocks, thirty-four towers, and 1,168 flats.
Elaborating on the technology, Radius Infratel's CEO Rajnish Wahi says, “This technology has evolved in a manner that the customer can choose any service provider's facilities provided by our platforms like IPTV, DTH, HD channels, Broadband, etc, also our platform gives immense choices to service providers as well to unbundled their services at customer level. So, " target="_blank">FTTH is a two way network having symmetrical bandwidth. The essence of this platform is that it facilitates the delivery of multiple telecom services provided by multiple service providers through a single optical fiber and that is why it has been suitably named as 'Neutral Access Network Operations (NANO)' platform.”
HS Singh, managing director of Radius Infratel, says, “ " target="_blank">Ericsson's GPON solution has enabled our Neutral Access Network Operation (NANO) concept that facilitates various operators in delivering their bandwidth rich applications like IPTV, multimedia contents, etc, and accommodates various building management, and home automation services. With this path breaking alliance, we are committed to redefine the broadband experience in India.
