Mro-Tek, a Bangalore based networking company, is planning to increase its investment on Research and Development (R&D) to develop new products. The company aims at tapping the global market especially the US with its new set of products some of which would be launched shortly while the others are being developed at the company’s R&D center at Bangalore. The company in the past two months has spent Rs 3 crore on its R&D center and would continue to invest further for the same in the near future. The company also increased its R&D Center’s headcount by five during the last two months.
The company is also in the process of expanding its existing facilities in Bangalore and has procured 60,000 Sq. ft. of land to built its corporate headquarters. Subsequently, the company would also be increasing its headcount from the existing 130 to 250 persons for the new facility. The new facility is expected to come up within a year’s time. According to S Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director of Mro-Tek, the company is in the process of launching two new products with which it aims to tap the US market. He said that the company has already identified a person to head its US operation but he declined to give any further information on the company’s future operational plans in the US. He informed that the company would be launching a set of Data Com products shortly.
A product named “FCAT” would be launched by the company next month. Explaining about this new product Narayanan remarked, “The product FCAT which can be used for last mile connectivity would act as a copper to fiber converter or vice versa. We look towards the US as a vast market for our FCAT product”. Explaining about the other product which is in the process of being developed by the company’s R&D facility and would be launched in due course of time, Narayanan said that it be would be useful in measuring the quality and usage of bandwidth service. He said that in broader terms the product would be helpful to the end customers as well as to the service providers.
Narayanan said that the company is also in the process of developing many other new products, which would be launched within a year’s time. He said that besides the US the company is also planning to expand its presence in the SAARC countries, the Middle East and in the Asia Pacific Region. The company already has a joint venture with companies in Singapore and Malaysia and also has a tie up with RAD Communications of Israel.
