MRO-TEK Ltd has launched two first mile access products - FCAT01, a copper to fiber converter and FCAT02-M, a two-port copper to fiber converter card. The products are meant for carriers and service providers to provide connectivity between Metro Area Network (MAN) and the Internet. The company is looking at penetrating the Indian market with the new products and has already bagged a contract from Tata Power for supplying 100 links.
The FCAT01 Ethernet media converter is targeted at enterprise applications and comes with features like single-mode and multi-mode fiber support, transmission distance of 2-100 km over fiber, automatic sensing of Ethernet wiring and parameters to reduce installation time.
FCAT02-Managed comes with dual fiber port for link redundancy, Linux-based centralized management for monitoring the entire network thus enabling the management station to detect fiber failure, remote CPE Ethernet port failure, traffic flow failure, link failure per customer, etc.
