Suri Appointed Head of Services, NSN
Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that Rajeev Suri, previously head of
the Asia Pacific region of Nokia Siemens Networks, has been appointed to lead
the services business unit. Suri will be based in India and will be a member of
Nokia Siemens Networks' Executive Board, reporting to CEO Simon
Beresford-Wylie. He joined Nokia in 1995 and has held a number of executive
positions in business development, marketing and sales and strategy.
3Com Announces New Country Manager
3Com has appointed Mohit Rampal as the new country manager for 3Com India. The
naming of the new in-country management team is part of the overall integration
of the 3Com and H3C Technologies sales and marketing teams. As leader of 3Com
India, Mohit will be responsible for all sales, customer, and partner programs
as well as the day-to-day operations in the country. Rampal will be based out of
Delhi. He has more than 17 years experience in the IT networking, IT security,
and telecommunications. Prior to joining 3Com India, Mohit worked with Avaya
Global Connect as regional director.
AppLabs Appoints New President and COO
AppLabs has appointed Makarand Teje as its new president and COO. In this role,
Makarand will be responsible for all operations in the US and India. Makarand
has over 18 years experience in the global IT industry covering P&L
management, operations, relationship management, strategic marketing, program
management, and business development. Prior to joining AppLabs, Makarand worked
at Wipro for over 15 years, where he worked on multiple assignments in middle
and senior management in the company's domestic as well as international
businesses.
Tanla Appoints Ravi as SVP
Tanla Solutions has announced that it has appointed Srinivas Ravi as senior
vice-president, Product Development and Strategy. Based out of the Tanla offices
in India, Srinivas will be responsible for leading product development in areas
like mobile marketing and MCommerce and managed services of voice and data
portals. In addition, he would be a key member of the strategy group that would
work to identify synergistic opportunities to fuel inorganic growth. Prior to
joining Tanla, Srinivas was with Reliance Communications for three years as
head, Post Paid Product Management.
OBS Appoints Vig as CEO
Orange Business Services, the business communications arm of the France Telecom
group, has announced the appointment of Sanjay Vig as the CEO for the combined
entity in India after the recent acquisition of GTL's Enterprise and Managed
Services units. The acquired company will operate under the umbrella brand of
Orange Business Services. Vig has 17 years experience in IT services sector in
both domestic and SEA markets. In the capacity of CEO, Sanjay will be
responsible for the immediate integration and further execute the country
business strategy of the company.
Aspect Software Appoints Seth as Director
Aspect Software appointed Shella Seth as director of Aspect Global Services for
South Asia and the Middle East. In this role, Shella will be responsible for
helping customers maximize the capabilities that Aspect Software delivers. Based
out of New Delhi, she and her 28-member team will ensure smooth solution
delivery, carry out audit checks of customer contact center technology, help
them achieve better RoI from their technological infrastructure, and provide
training workshops.
Convergys Appoints Country Manager
Convergys has announced the appointment of Sukant Srivastava as managing
director and country manager for Convergys' customer care operations in India,
effective immediately. In this position, Srivastava is responsible for
overseeing the operations of Convergys' eight contact centers and nearly
11,000 customer care employees in India. Srivastava reports to Clint Streit,
president of Convergys' Customer Care business, and is located in New Delhi.
Prior to joining Convergys, Srivastava served in a variety of global leadership
roles with Keane.
Shah Joins NVP India as MD
Norwest Venture Partners (NVP), a global technology venture capital firm, has
announced that Niren Shah has joined NVP India as managing director. Shah brings
to NVP India 14 years of operational, finance, investment banking, and
entrepreneurial experience from leading consumer Internet companies such as
eBay. Shah will be based in NVP India's Mumbai office, and will focus on local
investments in the consumer Internet, digital media, next-generation services,
and mobile sectors.
HDS Appoints India MD
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has announced the appointment of Natarajan
Viswanathan (Natty) as managing director of its India operations. Natty will be
based in Bangalore and will be responsible for providing sales direction and
leadership to achieve HDS corporate business objectives in India. Natty brings
with him 29 years of extensive experience in country sales management, business
development, and operational leadership.
Sharma Quits Motorola
Amit Sharma, Motorola India country president and vice president-strategy,
APC, Motorola, has put in his papers and joined American Towers. American Towers
is the infrastructure provider for the wireless, Internet, and broadcasting
industries. Managing director, Global Software Group, Motorola India, Soumitra
(Sammy) Sana, will be the new country president, Motorola India. Addition to his
new role, he will remain responsible for operations and site management at
Motorola Software Group.
Jensen Named CEO of Grameenphone
Grameenphone board of directors has appointed Anders Jensen as the company's
new CEO. He will succeed Erik Aas, who is leaving the company, from October 1,
2007. Since 2005, Jensen has served as chief marketing officer and head of
consumer market in Telenor Sweden. He has eight years of experience from the
Internet and telecommunications industry with Europolitan, Vodafone, and Telenor,
in addition to several years of experience working with fast moving consumer
goods.
Cisco Appoints Wadhwa as President
Cisco has appointed Naresh Wadhwa as president and country manager of its India
and SAARC region. He will report directly to Owen Chan, Cisco's President,
Apac Operations. Wadhwa has been with Cisco for almost 10 years and was most
recently based in Hong Kong, heading the marketing organization in the Apac
region. Prior to this, Wadhwa was responsible for channels, commercial, sales
operations and marketing across North Asia based out of Hong Kong. Before moving
to Hong Kong in 2004, he was the sales leader for the western region of India,
overseeing Cisco's largest region in the country.
QTIL Annuonces India MD
Arun Kapur, who has been heading the telecom business since its inception,
would henceforth assume larger role and responsibility in his new role as
managing director, QTIL. In this position, he will facilitate the telecom
leadership team to maintain the leadership position in the telecom tower market
and tap other strategic revenue streams. Kapur, in his capacity as a group
president and MD, telecom, will continue to mentor the telecom business. The
company has appointed Probal Ghosal as chief executive officer. He makes a shift
from Bennett Coleman & Co, where he was director, Finance, the Times of
India Group.
Moturi Appointed as MD of Xilinx India
Xilinx has appointed Mallik Moturi as managing director, Xilinx India. Moturi
will be responsible for overseeing all of Xilinx operations in India including
the center in Hyderabad. Moturi will also lead the company's efforts in
developing India into a global R&D hub for Xilinx. Moturi has over 15 years
experience in the semiconductor and systems industry with a strong track record
in developing and managing global teams. His initial focus will be on
formulating and driving a customer-based R&D strategy, and further
strengthening relationships with the growing number of customers in India and
Asia Pacific.
