Motorola has won the BSNL mandate for setting up India's single largest GSM
network ever for states of South India. The order which is valued at Rupees 8 37
crore( $178 Mn ) will support 1.4 million subscribers across the states of
Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Motorola will be providing
seamless cellular access across 280 cities and highways in the four states
covering 10,000 kms approximately. It will be providing all the equipment
for the network such as 900 MHz GSM turnkey including RF, switch,
infrastructure, sim cards and handsets. It will also be working with local
contractors in each state for installing and commissioning of networks. The
project is to be implemented in 8 months.
