Miele chooses Nokia Lumia

Nokia has announced that Miele & Cie KG, a global leader in premium domestic appliances and commercial machinery is switching to Nokia Lumia as the smartphone of choice for its global employees.

Built on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform, Nokia Lumia smartphones enable mobile access to Miele's business applications such as Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint. Additionally, Nokia Lumia offers Miele employees the benefits of a modern smartphone, including secure access at no additional cost to Microsoft Office documents, information and contacts.

Also available on Nokia Lumia are free navigation apps, including HERE Maps and HERE Drive, which allow maps to be downloaded via wireless LAN, reducing data traffic and network charges.

To increase the efficiency of its users and infrastructure, Miele has already equipped all its work stations with Microsoft products.

"The seamless connection to our existing Microsoft infrastructure as well as the great navigation and camera technology make Lumia an excellent addition to our existing IT systems," said Egbert Fichtler, head of IT Infrastructure, Miele.

Miele piloted Nokia Lumia over several months with more than 100 of its people.

Fichtler said, "Nokia Lumia exceeded our expectations both in terms of user experience and the look and feel of the devices, and so we are happy to continue rollout during the second half of 2013, with over 1,000 more devices for employees in Germany. The free navigation with HERE Drive helps our service team to plan routes to customers, while the great cameras in Nokia Lumia mean we can document service cases immediately on site helping us to save time and money."

In Germany, Miele is deploying Nokia Lumia on the Deutsche Telekom network.

"Yhe excellent speech quality and high speed data on the Deutsche Telekom network are very compelling. Overall, Nokia Lumia smartphones built on Windows Phone are increasing our efficiency as a company," added Fichtler.
