Under the contract, Lucent will supply Tata Teleservices with Lucent Flexent base stations -- which support 3G CDMA2000.1X service - as well as mobile switching centers. In addition to providing high-quality voice service, the CDMA2000 network will enable Tata Teleservices to offer their subscribers high-speed mobile access to data services such as wireless email -- including large attachments -- streaming audio and video and corporate intranets.

"We're pleased to be able to help Tata Teleservices meet their voice service needs, while also preparing them to introduce high-speed data capabilities to businesses - a market where we see great potential," said Jim Brewington, president of Mobility Solutions, Lucent Technolgies.
