40 LoIs Issued for Basic Services

The Department of Telecom has issued 40 Letter of Intent (LoIs) for basic services in the country said Ram Vilas Paswan, minister for communications while inaugurating BSNL's first WLL service in Gurgaon. The beneficiaries are Reliance, Tatas, and HFCL. These LoIs will be converted into license agreement once these companies pay the license fee. 

Reliance has bagged LoIs for 17 circles, Tatas for 15, and HFCL for 7. Reliance has got LoIs for Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, UP (E), UP (W), Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, and Assam. 

Tatas has got Maharastra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, UP (E), UP (W), Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. 

While HFCL has got Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, and four other circles.
