Jio to cover 5G rollout across UP in 10 months: Mukesh Ambani

Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani announced that Reliance Jio would finish the roll-out of its 5G services in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) in ten months.

"Jio will complete its rollout of 5G to cover every town and village of Uttar Pradesh in December 2023, that is in 10 months from today,” he said while talking at the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors' Summit in Lucknow today.

The RIL chairman continued by saying that Jio Platforms will aid in the modernization of every sector of commerce and industry, from agriculture to the social sector and government.

“Till now, we have invested Rs 50,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, and our businesses have been growth multipliers for several sectors. We have helped generate over 80,000 crore indirect and direct jobs,” said Ambani. "We plan to pilot two new initiatives ; Jio School and Jio AI doctor, most affordably to villages and small towns across in UP. Reliance Retail will revolutionize thousands of kiranas in the state," he added.

He declared that over the following four years, Reliance Industries will invest an extra Rs 75,000 crore in UP's Jio, retail, and renewable energy industries. “These additional investments will create an additional over 1 lakh jobs in the state. In new energy, we will set up 10 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, the largest in UP,” Mukesh Ambani said.

PM Modi introduced 5G services in the country on October 1st, 2022 and since then Reliance Jio claims to have covered 225 cities in total that now have access to its True 5G services whereas Airtel on the other hand is also making sure to expand its 5G Plus services nationwide at the earliest.
