At the India Mobile Congress on Friday, Reliance Jio declared that JioSpaceFiber, the country's first giga fibre service based on satellite, has been successfully demonstrated. The service, which will be offered at incredibly low costs throughout the nation, will provide high-speed broadband access to areas of India that were previously unreachable, according to the business.

According to Jio,  Luxembourg-based telecom company, SES is a partner that will give it access to the newest medium earth orbit (MEO) satellite technology available worldwide. MEO satellites have lower latency and faster throughput since they are located closer to Earth than conventional geostationary satellites. The claim makes SEO's satellite technology the only MEO constellation able to provide really distinctive gigabit, fiber-like services from orbit.

"Millions of Indian families and companies may now use broadband internet for the first time thanks to Jio. We reach millions more people who aren't connected with JioSpaceFiber. It will allow everyone, everywhere, to fully participate in the new digital society with gigabit access to online government, education, health, and entertainment services."Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani stated.

With access to both the new O3b mPOWER satellites and SES's O3b satellites, Jio asserts that it is the sole provider of a technology that offers scalable and reasonably priced broadband throughout the entirety of India. Furthermore, Jio claims to be the first in the business to provide a degree of assured reliability and service flexibility.

Jio said that four of the most remote places in India—Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha, and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam—have already been connected to JioSpaceFiber in order to showcase the strength and reach of the technology.

"Together with Jio, we are honoured to support the Government of India's Digital India initiative with a unique solution that aims at delivering multiple gigabits per second of throughput to any location in India," said John-Paul Hemingway, Chief Strategy Officer at SES.

Jio claims that over 450 million Indian customers are currently served by its high-speed broadband fixed-line and cellular services. Jio has expanded its portfolio of broadband services to include JioSpaceFiber in addition to JioFiber and JioAirFiber, with the goal of expediting digital access for all Indian households.

To improve Jio's 5G network's availability and scope in the most remote areas of India, the satellite network will also accommodate more capacity for mobile backhaul.

According to Jio, everyone will have access to high-speed satellite internet via JioSpaceFiber in areas including online governance, healthcare, education, and entertainment. There is no news on when the official rollout will take place as this is merely a demo. Nothing is known about the plans, prices, or anything else.
