ISA announces winners of Technovation Awards

India Semiconductor Association (ISA) has announced the winners of Technovation Awards December 2011 for contributions in ESDM.

This year, K Subramanya, CEO, Tata BP Solar India won the Sarabhai Award for his outstanding leadership skills and sustained contribution to the ESDM sector.

Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT-Madras won the TechnoVisionary, lifetime achievement award for his seminal contributions for ESDM sector while Dr Mahant-Shetti, Managing Director, Karnataka Microelectronic Training/Design Center is the recipient of the TechnoMentor-Semiconductors award.

The awards were given away by Ashok Soota, executive chairman, Happiest Minds.

In the Semiconductor IP awards were given to Hind High Vacuum Company and Berkeley Design Automation. In the Semiconductor Ecosystem awards were given to Tessolve Services and Applied Materials.

In the Electronics awards category awards were given to Vinfinet Technologies, Videocon Industries, Sling Media, Forus Health, Numeric Power Systems, and NavSemi Energy. In the Emebdded System award was given to Sasken Communication technologies.

''Innovations for local market, designed and made in India for the world are needed to address the $400 billion Indian electronics market by 2020. Technovation Awards showcase “Brand India” in the ESDM sector,'' said Ganapathy Subramaniam, member of the ISA executive council and convener, Technovation Awards, and CEO, Cosmic Circuits.

''Semiconductor industry is moving towards Green Technologies, where in efficient power management, lower operating power, extensive integration through SOC is setting the direction. Integration of new materials like gallium nitride, germanium with silicon is driving cost effective and efficient solutions in LED, silicon photonics and power market segments,'' he further added.

The initiative is aimed at recognizing organizations and individuals for exemplary contributions in ESDM industry.
