Indian enterprises to save about $4 billion, thanks to software-defined approach: Study

BENGALURU: Indian enterprises are expected to save an estimated US$4 billion between 2014 and 2020 by adopting a software-defined approach to managing IT, according to an IDC report commissioned by VMware.

These figures reflect operational costs associated with power consumption, cooling, real estate and server administration, the report said.

Meanwhile, VMware, cloud infrastructure and business mobility services provider, also said that it is seeing growing adoption of VMware vCloud Suite – its advanced cloud infrastructure solution – among enterprises in India. With the Software Defined Datacenter (SDDC) approach to IT now adopted among local enterprises across various sectors.

VMware vCloud Suite is an integrated offering for building and managing a VMware vSphere private cloud. Based on Software-Defined Data Center architecture, it dramatically improves efficiency, agility, and control for IT organizations. VMware vCloud Suite helps enterprises automate their IT operations, manage performance and gain visibility across physical and virtual infrastructure with a unified management experience.

Earlier this year, VMware inaugurated its 438,000 square foot facility in South Bangalore – entailing a total investment of US$120 million, representing the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation and evolving the business structure to serve customers locally and globally.

VMware has over 3,500 customers in India.
