The ambassadors should be able to present a strong motivation for attending the IGF meeting and should also demonstrate interest and expertise in issues on the IGF agenda. The applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in leading Internet governance discussions at the international level and in multi-cultural environments

Ambassadors to the IGF may be involved in various activities at the Forum, including contributions to the IGF ambassadors' blog, participating broadly in the IGF meeting agenda and assisting with staffing of the Internet Society booth at the venue.

The theme for IGF is "Building bridges-enhancing multi-stakeholder cooperation for growth and sustainable development."

IGF is a multi-stakeholder forum for policy dialogue on issues of Internet governance and brings together government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders, including the technical and academic community, on an equal basis and through an open and inclusive process. The IGF facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise.
