Huawei signs 5 year contract with Vodafone Spain

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has signed a five year contract with Vodafone Spain for the field and civil maintenance and management of Vodafone mobile and DSL access networks in Spain.

Under the terms of the contract, Huawei will be in charge of the preventive and corrective maintenance of the mobile access network infrastructure and telecommunications equipments, which includes 2G, 3G and access transmission equipment, mostly Huawei, and the DSL telecommunications equipments.

Huawei will also operate and maintain any mobile access network future equipment, including the infrastructures deployed by other manufacturers.

This agreement entails the aggregation of those tasks carried out so far by several companies, which will be assumed by Huawei with the goal of offering service efficiency and quick response anywhere in the country. For this Huawei will have a wide team of qualified professionals, including 103 current Vodafone employees who will become part of Huawei's staff.

Huawei's relationship with Vodafone in Spain dates back to 2006 when they signed the first contract for 3G equipment provisioning. In 2007, both companies reached an agreement for the deployment in our country of a joint innovation center giving service to Vodafone Group.
