Huawei has signed a framework agreement with the Serbian Railways (ZS, Zeleznice Srbije) recently for its digital railway solutions.
Under this agreement, Huawei will provide ZS with digital railway solutions in the next five years to help the railway transportation company achieve infrastructure modernization of the Nis-Sid railway line of the Pan-European Corridor X for efficiency enhancement.
Measuring 444 kilometers in length, Nis-Sid railway line crosses the main axis of the Pan-European Corridor X, making it one of the most important lines of the Serbian railway network.
Based on Serbian Railways' long-term infrastructure modernization plan, this line will be the nation's first railway line equipped with modern telecommunication features including GSM-R and optical transmission system and the first to provide Level two of the European Train Control System (ETCS-L2) in Serbia.
According to the agreement signed between Huawei and ZS, during the first phase of the modernization process, Huawei will provide ZS with digital railway solutions that feature end-to-end design and delivery to cope with the existing railway network and business plan of the Serbian Railways, serving the railway company's needs to achieve efficient traffic control, security monitoring, office collaboration and enhanced passenger services.
Huawei will provide ZS with its signature GSM-R solution that enables reliable and secure transmission of voice and train control data between on-board and ground based entities, Huawei's intelligent video surveillance system, which will cover public areas and key facilities along the railway line, will ensure operational security and passenger safety. Huawei's VoIP system will provide a collaborative office environment for ZS staff for facilitating effective road network resources allocation and management.
Besides other, the frame contract supply of high performance DWDM, MSTP and IP/MPLS network solutions to improve wired backbone network bandwidth and achieve data, voice and video multi-service access.
Huawei's digital railway solutions can be integrated with various subsystems such as Passenger information systems and public announcement systems to, provide reliable, secure and flexible services for transport management, freight & passenger services and internal coordination system.
With a business-oriented end-to-end design, the solutions provide a full set of high-usability, easy-to-maintain and upgradable telecommunication network to fulfill railway network operations and future business development needs of ZS.
