HTC launches Android phone with Hindi and Tamil support

HTC Corporation has launched HTC Explorer, an Android phone offering full support for text input, and display of Hindi and Tamil languages.

HTC Explorer users will be able to view and compose content in Hindi and Tamil on any compatible Android application. The phone users will be able to view Hindi and Tamil websites, and will also be able to send and receive text messages and emails in Hindi and Tamil.

HTC will also integrate this native language input and display support in its future smartphones launched in India, enabling one billion people to conversate in their own languages.

''By being the first to offer Indian language input and display capabilities, HTC is making it easy for Indian consumers to communicate and understand each other,'' said Lennard Hoornik, president of South Asia, HTC Corporation.

Available at a price of Rs 11,650, the device offers a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen and a 3MP camera, along with applications including Saavn, Bollywood Hungama, NDTV Cricket, NDTV news, eBuddy XMS, HTC Flashlight, Asphalt Adrenalin, Uno and Cricket Pro.
