42. Gujarat Telephone Cables

Gujarat Telephone Cables, the Ahmedabad-based JFTC manufacturer, witnessed a
slide in its revenue by registering a turnover of Rs 184.96 crore, down by 2.54
percent as compared to the previous year’s Rs 189.78 crore. The company is one
of the major suppliers to DoT and has an installed capacity of 17.5 million ckm
of JFTC. Delay in DoT orders has resulted in under utilization of capacity and
subsequently a dent in bottomline.

GTCL’s plant is located at Chharodi. During the last fiscal, the company
received an order from DoT for 27 lckm of JFTC. It also holds 54 percent in its
subsidiary, Gujarat Optical Communication Ltd, which manufactures Optical Fiber
Cables (OFCs), with a production capacity of 10,800 ckm. It has sold around
2,000 ckm of OFC in the last fiscal.

The company also promotes two other companies namely, Gujarat Mobile Com
Technologies and RHP Cable & Industries engaged in the manufacture of JFTC
and OFC.
