GSM subscriber base stands at 744.42 mn in July

GSM operators have added 4.85 mn subscribers in July 2014, a 0.66% increase over the previous month, taking the total user base to 744.42 mn, the Cellular operators Association of India has said.

Vodafone added the maximum number of users in July with 1.368 mn subscribers and with its total base at 171.2 mn at the end of month. The operator has a market share of 23.01%.

The GSM lobby group said that the country’s top operator Bharti Airtel’s subscriber base stood at 209.76 mn, with the addition of 0.51 mn users.

The company’s market share stood at 28.18% at the end of July.

With 66.80 mn users, UP (E) recorded maximum GSM subscribers for the circle.

Idea Cellular added 1.105 lakh users and its overall subscriber base at the end of July stood at 140.1 mn with a market share of 18.82%.

Aircel added 0,917 mn new users during the month and Uninor added 0.853 mn users in July.

State-run MTNL added 7,704 new users during the month.
