The enterprise equipment market was upbeat, and experienced a positive growth
in FY 2005-06. The overall enterprise equipment market stands at Rs 7,901 crore
as against the previous year's Rs 6,037 crore, a growth of 31%. The main
reason for the buoyancy to continue was the increased awareness among the
enterprises about the importance of efficient networking. Recognizing it as a
strategic investment, even the small and medium businesses opted for high-end
solutions.
Another critical factor, which pushed up the networking market, was the
immense growth of enterprise connectivity in the country.
The structured cabling market bustled with expansion while the competition
got tough. The industry saw a growth of 38% and reached the revenue of
Rs 574 crore.
The need of anytime-anywhere connectivity drove the growth in the WLAN
equipment segment and the market stood at Rs 104 crore in FY 2005-06 as against
Rs 83 crore last year.
The audio-video conferencing market too experienced an upward trend in FY
2005-06 and posted revenue of Rs 74 crore, registering the growth of around 72%.
The voice solutions market got revenue of Rs 1,102 crore in FY 2005-06 and the
majority of it was from hybrid IP solution. The total market for routers grew
23% over 2005-06 and stood at Rs 1,047 crore. The market was driven by
large-scale deployment by the government and the banking sector. The
consistently growing modem market registered revenue of Rs 270 crore and a
growth of 30%.

The network integration market grew by 25% to Rs 5,219 crore. The major
drivers of the market were large orders placed from banking, manufacturing,
retail, government, service providers, and IT sectors. The network security
services market saw a healthy growth of 75% with revenue of Rs 105 crore in FY
2005-06. The major adopters of security continued to be BFSI and ITeS verticals.
The switch market grew to Rs 1,587 crore registering a growth of 22%. The
network storage market grew 30% in FY 2005-06 registering revenue of Rs 559
crore. While telecom provided maximum business to the vendors, BFSI, IT and ITeS
also contributed significantly.
All in all, it was a fruitful year for the enterprise equipment vendors and
with the overall growth of economy and expansion plans of various verticals,
growth looks sure to come in the years ahead.
