Gujarat Narmada valley fertilizers Company (GNFC) have recently introduced their first SkyIP terminal. The company along with US based NSI Communications has introduced this new concept of Satellite technology by combining advantages of SCPC and TDM technologies.
PB Nanavati, Director, GNFC said, “ This product would provide the ideal solution for extending corporate networks to remote offices.”
The SkyIP terminal provides a satellite communications solution completely based on Internet protocol. It integrates the satellite modem and the router function into a single unit. This approach not only eliminates the cost for an external router but also allows true bandwidth on demand. By locally monitoring the data buffer at the SkyIP terminal and forwarding the rate to central controller, SkyIP applications achieve automatic bandwidth on demand. SkyIP’s IP based technology offers remote offices a range of telecommunication services, including Internet access, LAN/WAN interconnects, voice, data and on demand videoconferencing. This communication solution provides seamless integration with existing corporate networks and Internet. SCPC is a point-to-point network topology, equivalent to a conventional leased line cable of delivering 2 Mbps or more bandwidth. The TDM technology is equivalent to packet switched network capable of delivering time insensitive data.
