Data explosion is the order of the day. In your view, how has the Indian
market responded to 10G cabling solutions to support this phenomenon?
Customers are deploying cabling which can support 10G on copper as well as fiber
in their core network areas such as server farms, SAN, etc. 10G at the moment is
primarily a fiber based application on the active equipment side. Standards
compliant copper solutions are available in the market to help the customers
future proof their facility. Shielded solutions are more efficient in their
isolation of Alien Cross Talk, hence, are the preferred choice.
Recession is a biggest factor that has changed the marketing dynamics of
the structured cabling industry. How are you helping your customers during this
difficult time?
Through our innovative offerings we help our customers to shock absorb the
recession. The latest offering from Molex is the APLLM (Advanced Physical Layer
Lifecycle Management). It is a new suite of solutions providing enterprises with
the ability to manage their physical layer infrastructure with a level of
visibility and integration unique in the structured cabling industry.
Using a combination of software, electronics and structured cabling products,
APLLM enables users to track and manage their investment from planning through
to design, procurement, installation, moves adds and changes (MACs) and the
eventual upgrade of the infrastructure, thereby spanning its entire lifecycle.
The APLLM system provides unprecedented productivity gains, process enhancements
and incremental value to infrastructure stakeholders in their deployment and
management processes.

While the structured cabling business has suffered from recession in the
last fiscal, how do you plan to further your growth in India?
Molex has a two-pronged approach to successfully manage in the tough times. We
are offering technologically superior solutions which help customers future
proof the network-an important consideration in an infrastructure investment.
For example, the Molex Cat 6A solution is component compliant to TIA
specifications as against other vendors whose products can only comply when put
together as a channel. In addition to this, Molex solutions cover not only
products but also network management and implementation which helps the customer
deploy and manage their resources more efficiently.
What do you think are the key trends impacting the structured cabling
industry at present?
The explosive growth in data is leading to an ever increasing need for data
centers. This in turn is driving the need for higher speeds such as 10G, etc.
Over a period of time, vendors like Molex, who invest in R&D significantly and
can offer technologically superior solutions to meet these needs, will become
the preferred suppliers.
How is the structured cabling business transforming into services evolving
from just a solution?
Manufacturers have supported and enhanced the cabling services business from
early days. As the standards specify post installation parameters for a cabling
network it is essential that the quality of the installed network meets and
exceeds these parameters. This means that installers have to be trained in
laying, termination and testing methods. Molex has been running a comprehensive
Certified Installer Program to help the services industry meet these needs.
How vital is it to transform your relationship with business partners?
We have just launched the BOND (Building Outstanding Distribution Network)
program. This online portal program brings partners closer to Molex by providing
better access to information and playing a pivotal role in transforming
relationships with Molex. We have been running such programs on a regular basis
for a smooth eco-system to benefit our customers ultimately.
