Qualcomm has signed an agreement to acquire Spike Technologies for $19 million in an
all-cash deal. The company also announced the opening of an R&D center in Hyderabad that will have 40 professionals working on developing software, customization, and customer support.
California-headquartered Spike Technologies is a semiconductor design services company with a design center in Bangalore. It will contribute its engineering workforce to Qualcomm's 3G plans.
The manpower at the Hyderabad center would be increased to 60 by September 2005. Based on the growth, the headcount could be increased further.
