Etisalat may consider Idea Cellular for India mobile expansion

Emirates Telecom Coporation is said to be considering investing in Idea Cellular Ltd to expand its business in India. Etisalat owns a 45 percent stake in Etisalat DB Telecom Pvt, venture with India's DB group got its phone license in 2008 and started services this year under the Cheers Mobile brand.

An acquisition in India, the world's second-largest market for mobile-phone services, would allow Etisalat to become an active player in India.
