The Union Budget 2022 is tomorrow. On this occassion, there are lots of expectations from the Indian telecom industry.
According to Nitin Bansal, MD, India Head, Networks, Market Area South East Asia, Oceania and India at Ericsson, the important telecom regulatory and policy reforms, including AGR, PLI scheme, 100% FDI, permission for 5G trials etc., introduced by the Government in 2021 have brought much needed respite to the financially stressed sector and will provide impetus to the overall growth of the industry.
He added that 2022 will be a crucial year for the Indian telecom industry with the upcoming 5G auctions, which has necessitated further investments in network infrastructure by the telcos. Hence, it is critical that the components used for local manufacturing of 4G and 5G equipment supporting Make In India and PLI are exempt from basic customs duties.
