NEW DELHI: Sweden-based Ericsson has been chosen as the lowest bidder for the
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limted's (BSNL) tender for 45.5 million GSM line contract.
However, official reports are yet to be announced by the operator. BSNL
sources said that Ericsson emerged as the lowest bidder in the tender process.
There were five bidders for the tender- ZTE, Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and
Ericsson. ZTE and Motorola were disqualified on 'technical grounds'.
Among the three final bidders, Ericsson was quoted for the lowest bidding.
According to the terms and condition, two bidders would be selected for the
tender, the lowest bidder would get 60 per cent of the contract and the second
lowest would get 40 per cent of the Rs 20,000 crore tender. According to
sources, Nokia has emerged as the second lowest bidder.
The tender has been invited for procuring and installing of BSNL's GSM
network across the country.
