Ericsson has strengthened its SPO Packet Optical Transport Platform(POTP) portfolio, with the introduction of new SPO 1480 products.
The new products extends the SPO Family of POTP from the Metro Access, to the Metro Regional network to support popular packet, TDM and wavelength services on one platform.
The SPO family of POTPs provides a simple, easy to use, high value solution to enable network operators meet these demands. The SPO 1400 incorporates a simple and scalable hybrid TDM-WDM-packet architecture, suitable for TDM-based networks, which require a low-risk transition, to ultra high capacity packet transport.
Its building-block architecture provides the operators with the option to optimize node configurations for location and cost, with the ability to scale optical capacity without compromising with shelf switching capacity.
The Swedish vendor will be showcasing its new lone of products at the The Optical Engineers Conference in Los Angeles, California.
''By providing an integrated platform that supports all the networking layers from WDM to TDM and Packet, we have provided the simplest and most cost-effective path for modernizing metro optical networks delivering real value to our customers,'' said Phil Winterbottom, head of Optical and Metro Product Management, Ericsson.
