ER&DCI; Sets Up Call Center for Incubation …

Electronics Research & Development Centre of India (ER&DCI) has set up a 200 seat call center in Noida for startup companies who plan to have a feel of the call center before going for a full fledged operation in the future. The company is already providing service to Netspace and icall and is negotiating with MTNL and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) for 20 seats each.

The call center is set up in association with central government, ER&DCI, and UP government, which holds equity of 50, 40, 10 percent respectively. The total cost of the project is around Rs 12 crore.

The call center has CRM modules from Cincom, Remedy, and Siebel 2000, ACD from Nortel, servers from Compaq, switch from Nortel, and routers form 3Com and Cisco. The call center is planned for a commercial launch on 31 March 2001 by the IT minister, Pramod Mahajan.

… to Launch ISP operation in March

Electronics Research & Development Center of India (ER&DCI) is planning to start its ISP operations in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar on 31 March 2001, revealed RK Verma, Executive Director, ER&DCI. The company is already providing customers Internet access through cable on a pilot basis, and plans are to provide access through wireless and leased lines. The company is charging Rs 8,000 for a set top box and a monthly charge of Rs 1,000 for accessing Internet through cable.

On the wireless front, the company plans to set up one base station in Ghaziabad that will take care of subscribers in both districts. Presntly, ER&DCI has 100 corporate and individual subscribers.
