Enterasys Networks, supplier of high-end switches, has announced the launch of Matrix N series of switching line products. This product line is part of initiatives taken by the company to strengthen its position in the Indian market. The new Matrix N-series is claimed to be an advancement over its earlier switch models offering an enterprise-wide management and high availability design with better levels of scalability, performance and network availability. The launch in India would be among the first few in the Asian continent. Elaborating on this, Enterasys Networks Asia-Pacific Technical Manager Andy Miller said, "Sage India was the first customer for the series. So it is logical that India should be one of the first countries in the Asian market to witness the launch."
Talking on the life cycle cost of the product to the customer, Miller said, "To begin with, the product has a low entry cost, followed on by a low maintenance cost as modules can be changed one at a time depending on their failure. Add to this minimized uptime, low configuration and inventory cost and you have a product that makes an investment in it a thoroughly cost-effective one."
In another initiative to expand on its distribution network in the country, Enterasys announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Bangalore based Select Technologies, which is a subsidiary of WeP Peripherals Ltd. ASEAN & India Enterasys Networks Sales Director George Yong said, "Select will aid us in providing the logistic support and regional know-how necessary in introducing more of the Indian market to our suite of products. With this partnership we are confident of perceiving growth in as less as three to six months." Further, Select Technologies would also undertake the creation of a WLAN market in India for Enterasys. According to WeP Peripherals Ltd CEO Ram Agarwal, Select would undergo a name change to WeP Networks in the next few months.
