EDGE Successfully Tested in India

Motorola India has successfully completed the trials of Enhanced Data Rate for Global Evolution (EDGE) with Hutchison Max Telecom in India. EDGE is expected to be commercially deployment this year. EDGE can enable mobile data speeds up to 240 Kbps and support mobile applications such as streaming video encourage the use data applications such as multimedia messaging services (MMS). Motorola's existing Horizon Macro base stations can be upgraded to become EDGE capable. Enabling the operators to deliver 3G-like services by maximizing the efficiency of their 2.5G investments.
