Deltagram Introduces Statewide Roaming for E-Call Service

Chennai-based satellite messaging company, Deltagram, has announced a roaming facility for its E-Call service. In a major technology upgradation, Deltagram has developed technology integration for its messaging services from VSAT to GSM-based hubs. Accordingly, the company has set up GSM technology-based hubs in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vellore, Cochin, and Pune to service the requirements of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu (other than Chennai), Kerala, Maharashtra and Pune. The VSAT-based connectivity would be relocated to cover shadow areas in each state and for offices, which will handle financial products for applications like money transfer, for which a roll out program is being drawn up.

"This upgradation will enable statewide coverage, smoother functioning of administration and is also cost-effective," says Na.Vijayashankar, executive director, Deltagram. The company has also created several new product concepts, which will fully utilise the capabilities and the strengths of the GSM technology platform. These products in the domain of voice messaging and fax services will be shortly launched in the consumer marketplace. Innovative usage options have also been developed for
exclusive use by the corporate sector.

With the introduction of the GSM with roaming facility, the E-Call services of
the company are available over a single number throughout the state as 'local call'. The caller will have to just purchase the card for Rs. 5 per card, call
the hub center number and dictate the message. The company claims that the message will reach the destination number anywhere in the country within 15 minutes.
