What are your expansion plans for the Indian market?

Since our inception in 2000, we have been growing in the DSL business at at a y-o-y of 15-20%; now we are targeting a 10% growth for the next year. WiMax is the new business-2.3 Ghz in CP and 2.5 Ghz in WiMax spectrum> TheWiMax CP business is expected to grow to 1 mn in market size (as per BSNL requirement); a 25-30% market share. As for 2.3 Ghz, it is still waiting for spectrum. Operators will look for the mobility business, more than residential. We are working with partners from BSNL for WiMax, and Mediatek is one of our partners as well. The wireless business is driven by service providers, and thus offering a customized option depends on whether customers will prefer adopting 3G or WiMax.

What are your expectations from the Indian market and customer response?

We are hoping that spectrum gets allocated on time, so that we don't have to postpone our business plan. We are also hoping for customer adoption and growth, to make it a profitable business for our partners and ourselves.

Some of the new products on display at the exhibition are the DSL series, including DSL and G.SHDSL-both of which are based on ATM-and TDM based on display; interface; converter series and SDH series for WiMax backhaul. The summit would help in creating customer and educational awareness through vendors and SPs, and visibility for us.

Which products are you looking at launching in the coming two to three years?

Outdoor CPE and indoor CPE are our products as of now, for home and office customers. We are also working on portable mobile devices. Before the so-called launch of LTE, there are a few years' market window for WiMax. We are looking at tablet PCs, e-books, wireless program access and embedded wireless modules in the near future. However, this all depends on market adoption, we foresee a gap of at least six to eight months for the Indian market to mature for the launch of these new services.
