CoMP increases 3G LTE data rates

A new technology, CoMP (Coordinated Multiple Transmission) that can increase 3G LTE data rates has been tested and the first live field test was conducted by number of companies like Alcatel-Lucent, Bell Labs, Deutsche Telekom Laboratories etc. By coordinating and combining signals from multiple antennas, CoMP, will make it possible for mobile users to enjoy consistent performance and quality when they access and share videos, photos and other high bandwidth services whether they are close to the center of LTE cell or at its outer edge. The tests showcased that CoMP helps to improve bandwidth scalability by boosting transmission rates , improves quality of service by demonstrating consistently high transmission rates on the uplink from the phone to the network and maximize the use of existing network infrastructure.
