MUMBAI: Citrus Pay, one of India’s fast growing payments innovator, is taking its digital wallet into the offline payments space through a partnership with Woohoo, a popular gifting and shopping portal. Citrus indicates that this tie-up will allow its 17 million users to spend at over 5000+ stores and portals, both online and offline.

Woohoo app is an innovation by Qwikcilver wherein consumers can use Woohoo as the single Mobile App for gifting their loved ones, buying in retail, having a meal in a restaurant or buying a ticket online.

The move is aimed at inching closer to ousting the ‘fat wallet’ Indian consumers need to lug around with them while shopping offline. E-commerce has gained popularity in the past few years, but continues to remain a small sliver of the Indian retail industry. The company has statistically pointed out that 95% purchases still happen in the organized and unorganized offline retail store, and Citrus aims at enabling payments right there. This is centered around the consumer experience and, more importantly, convenience.

Woohoo app has tied up with 5000+ stores and portals, both online and offline — which include leading retail chains, entertainment platforms and travel partners. The Woohoo app powered by Citrus enables preloading the Woohoo gift card with desired amount of money. The Gift card is used as a debit card at exhaustive list of select stores. Citrus-enabled benefits can now be used on Woohoo app’s platform, while the former's own merchant network of 6000+ online businesses show growing acceptance of the digital wallet payment method.

Commenting about the partnership, Citrus Pay’s Founder and MD, Jitendra Gupta said, “Citrus is very glad to partner with Woohoo which increases more acceptance points for the Citrus wallet. This gives Citrus wallet consumers a real opportunity to use their wallet on more than 5000+ merchant locations serviced by Woohoo. The line is blurring between of digital payments for offline and online spending. Wallet is not just about discounts and cash-backs but also about the experience the consumer has - a simple, straightforward, rewarding and smooth payments experience — which is exactly what Citrus aims to deliver.”

Pratap T P, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Qwikcilver said, “The partnership with Citrus wallet has brought us much closer in delivering a seamless gifting & payment experience to our consumers, through their mobile phone. At one end, this partnership will place the power of choice and convenience of using the Citrus wallet, in the hands of the customer, and at the other end, it will offer us an opportunity to attract over 17 million Citrus wallet users to adopt Woohoo while making payments.”
