Cisco introduces Catalyst 6500 Switches

Cisco Systems today introduced the next generation of intelligent network capabilities and market-leading, high-performance interfaces for the Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series multilayer switch. The company claimed that the Catalyst 6500 platform would make it easier for customers to upgrade their existing infrastructure in a cost effective way, paving the road for new services such as voice over IP, wireless and security. Customers can now deploy new end-user services, enhance wireless user mobility and prepare for the proliferation of network connected devices using their existing Cisco Catalyst 6500 interface investments, a company release said.

Rajeev Chopra, Vice President - Marketing, Cisco Systems India & SAARC, expects the Catalyst 6500 to allow customers to seamlessly add next-generation intelligent services and interfaces using their existing network infrastructure.
