China Telecom expands 3G business

China Telecom is on the verge of expanding its 3G mobile business and broadband. China Telecom will execute this plan through expedite development by subdividing target markets and accelerating the exploration of overseas and China's northern markets.

The number of China Telecom's base stations for mobile network totaled 206,000, including 143,000 3G base stations, covering all cities above country level and 77% of villages and towns. As of December, the number of China Telecom's users increased from 236 million in 2005 to the current 340 million, with broadband users surging more than 2-folds compared with that of 2005. The firm's mobile subscribers also increased over 2-folds from 2008.
