Telecom services came to a grinding halt in the national capital yesterday due to the ongoing interconnect row between the basic and cellular operators over WLL. Subscribers of MTNL’s fixed phone in Delhi were unable to make calls to Hutch or AirTel mobile phones. Similarly calls made from Hutch and AirTel network also failed to connect with MTNL phones. Cell-to-Cell calls however, were not affected. While cellular operators charged MTNL with blocking their network, MTNL has denied the allegation, citing technical snag as the reason. According to reports, BSNL network functioned normally without any disruptions.
Cellular operators meanwhile have moved to TDSAT against TRAI show cause notice calling it violative of its jurisdiction. TDSAT is slated to hear the operators’ point of view on Monday.
