CDAC holds GARUDA-NKN Partners Meet in Bangalore

C-DAC Knowledge Park, Bangalore in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC) is organising a two-day 'GARUDA-NKN Partners Meet' on July 20 and 21, 2012 at NIAS Auditorium, Bangalore.

The meeting will focus on effective utilization of GARUDA-NKN resources, experiences of the scientific community and case studies on the impact of GARUDA-NKN in the field of Bioinformatics including open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD), User specific Frameworks such as Galaxy, Keppler, Climate Modelling, Material Science, Computational Fluid Dynamics, biodiversity etc.

R&D teams of C-DAC, National level labs and senior academicians will demonstrate their current work and their research outcomes in Grid Computing and related areas like HPC and cloud and the applications. Around 200 participants from the scientific, academic and government institutes partnering with NKN and Grid GARUDA will be attending this meet.

Dr Sarat, Executive Director, C-DAC, Bangalore said, “The objective of the joint meet is to provide a forum to gain invaluable insights of the collaborative initiatives in Grid computing and NKN by several research communities. This meet will provide a platform to explore and share more complex and National level scientific and engineering problems and solutions among the fraternity to take Grid GARUDA and NKN activities to the next higher level.”

At present, National Knowledge Network on Grid GARUDA resources are being accessed for drug discovery, screening possible drug targets for metabolic disorders from traditional medicinal plants, seasonal prediction for Indian monsoon, aerospace engineering, disaster management and e-learning. Padmashri Dr.Vijay P. Bhatkar, Chairman of IIT-Delhi will inaugurate the event. He is also the founder executive director of C-DAC.
