BSNL has taken several steps, including a greater focus on the VAS front, to improve its economic condition after a massive revenue loss of Rs 6384 cr, which the PSU posted in the FY 2010-11.
Milind Deora, minister of state for communications and IT has announced that Department of Telecommunications (DOT) regularly reviews the performance of the company to improve its financial health.
According to the minister the company will lay stress on data usage and value added services in order to earn profit.
The state owned operator has even decided to enhance capital and operating expenditure via convergence, and consolidation of its infrastructure.
The PSU will be focussing on broadband and enterprise business with major focus on government projects, and will eye on top 100 cities for revenue.
The company will also focus on customer care, service delivery, service assurance, revenue management and asset management.And will switch to next generation network thereby ensuring convergence, consolidation and seamless delivery of various services to end customers across different technologies, said the minister.
