Bharti Teletech Crosses 20 Million Mark

Bharti Teletech, the telephone manufacturing arm of Bharti Enterprises, recently shipped its 20th million phone. The company now claims to have become the largest manufacturer of telephone instruments globally outside China. "What is remarkable is that, while the company took 12 years to produce the first 10 million phones, the next ten million came in the just four years,’’ Bharti Enterprises vice-chairman and managing director Rakesh Mittal said. The company expects to cross the next 10 million mark by 2005. It is planning to manufacture e-mail enabled and SMS-capable fixed line phones very soon.
