Bharti Cellular Ltd has conducted Enhanced Data Rate for Global Evolution (EDGE) trials in its network center using Ericsson's network solution. EDGE enables streaming videos and Internet based multimedia services at data transfer rates of 60-70 kbps. While Delhi network will be EDGE-enabled by mid-next year, the company would take a final call on whether or not it would deploy EDGE during the next year in other circles depending on the availability of EDGE enabled phone. The company has introduced general packet radio service (GPRS) roaming at international level with SingTel of Singapore and Globe of Philippines to enable customers to access Internet while traveling to these countries.
