Bharti Airtel introduces 5G in Kargil district's Zanskar Valley

Bharti Airtel has declared that it has established a 5G connection to the Zanskar Valley in the Kargil area, enabling Airtel to provide 5G services there. Zanskar Tehsil's twenty-five villages would be connected to the digital expressway by the advent of high-speed connection, according to Airtel.

At 7756 meters above sea level, Airtel claims that this extension is a component of their continuous efforts to connect the most distant areas of the nation, including high-altitude valleys, with their Airtel 5G Plus services.

By October 2023, Airtel claims to have connected 5,000 cities and 20,000 villages nationwide with its aggressive 5G deployment. Additionally, Airtel 5G Plus is now available in every district of the Union Territory of Ladakh, which is renowned for its breathtaking scenery, steep mountain routes, and distinctive cultural legacy. Airtel emphasizes that, like millions of other consumers nationwide, all 25 villages in the Zanskar Valley may now take advantage of 5G services.

During the recent flood catastrophe that affected Sikkim, Bharti Airtel, claims to have, shown exceptional resilience and promptly restored connectivity to the area by utilizing inventive methods like drones. Fueled by unrelenting monsoon rains, Sikkim saw a devastating flood in early October that severely disrupted the region's infrastructure, particularly communication networks.

Airtel's fiber optic network, which served as a lifeline for both locals and businesses, experienced a significant malfunction that threatened to make the problems brought on by the natural disaster worse. Aware of the gravity of the issue, Airtel collaborated with drone startup IG Drones to investigate potential creative fixes for the quick restoration of fiber optic connectivity.
