Bharti Airtel and China Telecom have announced the launch of new direct underground terrestrial cable link between India and China. Both the companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently. The companies will develop an interconnect and this enables a seamless access between each others network connectivity.
Spotlights of underground terrestrial link:
The underground terrestrial network will be of 40 Gbps. It will be built on highly resilient ring infrastructure to offer unparalleled connectivity in the region. It will address the challenges of growing international traffic between the two countries. This link will provide unparalleled diversity to both East and West-bound traffic, ensuring business continuity and economic growth for both the nations. The terrestrial network will offer the shortest alternate route between India and China, alongside the existing sub-sea routes. Both the companies have undertook the development of network-to-network interconnect links in their respective territories. Bharti Airtel is establishing the underground terrestrial link from Siliguri to the Nathula Border, from where the Chinese operator extended the link up to Yadong, in China.
