BenQ Eyes Indian Market with GSM Sets

BenQ, a Taiwan-based mobile phone manufacturer, has ventured into the Indian market with its two GSM handsets - a mono bar model M550G and a color screen clam shell model S830C. Subsequently, the company will be launching six models in the GSM segment by the end of December 2003 ranging between Rs 5000 to Rs 15,000 and also handsets in the CDMA segment by March 2004. The company has also announced that it will be investing Rs 10 crore to Rs 12 crore to promote the brand within India.
