Avaya Expands Pune R&D; Center

Avaya has inaugurated the second phase of their research and development center at Pune. The facility would have around 300 people engaged in supporting Avaya Labs in the development of IP solutions, applications and appliances for the global market place.

Speaking on the occasion Ravi Sethi, president, Avaya Labs said that the Pune center would become the largest development center for the company once all the 300 seats are occupied in next couple of months. "This center would also have a remote technical team to provide services support in the areas of converged data and voice, messaging, and unified communication systems," Sethi added.

The R&D center was started in October 2004 and has 180 people. The new center was inaugurated by Kiran Karnik, president, Nasscom. Emphasizing on the need to leverage in the "exceptionally high talent pool" and availability of manpower, Karnik said: "R&D on the top of the IT industry and centers like Avaya Labs in India is an indication of the health of the whole IT industry."
