He once said, "telecom industry needs a dose of oxygen
immediately." He was true to his words. He held the view that growth should
not be limited to only through government spending and convinced the government
to ensure private telecom companies made their contribution as well through
their investment. He also had a role to play in allowing private operators to
set up their own tariff structure for their customers. He also put an end to the
deadlock on interconnection when the operators were routing traffic using longer
routes. He helped streamline SACFA clearance process by setting up of SACFA
secretariat. He also worked towards convincing the government to provide more
sops to the telecom manufactures. He was also blunt in admitting that NTP 1994
was responsible for the woes of the telecom equipment manufacturers.
