Alcatel One Touch smartphone-Idol X+ launched

TCL Communication's smartphone brand, Alcatel One Touch on Thursday launched of its new smartphone-Idol X+ smartphone for Rs 16,999 in the Indian market.

The phone will be released exclusively on e-retailer Flipkart from June 3.

The company's new device has a 5 inch full HD display with 1920 x 1080p resolution. It runs on Android 4.2. The smartphone is powered by 2GHz MediaTek octa-core processor and includes dual-SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

The internal storage on the device is 16/32GB and doesn't support a microSD card. It has a 13.1 MP rear camera that can capture videos at 1080p resolution and a 2 MP front facing camera. This is a dual SIM phone and connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G.

It packs in a 2500 mAh battery. Alcatel One Touch has bundled a JBL headphone and its recently announced Boomband with this phone.

"Idol X+ is our first e-commerce initiative and we very excited to launch this phone in partnership with Flipkart.com. Flipkart is our primary and exclusive online retail partner and this is our first Exclusive smart phone activity with the online giant," said Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, APAC, Alcatel One Touch.

"At Alcatel One Touch we have been constantly innovating our products. Idol X+ is a smartphone that will change the way smartphones are being used today. We have included a health Boomband for users who are health conscious. We are looking at strengthening our smartphone retail with exclusive partnerships with online and offline retail stores," said Albert Wong, Head, APAC, Alcatel One Touch.

In addition, the company will also be bundling a free Boomband activity tracker and JBL in-ear headphones.
