Jagbir Singh, group chief technical officer, Bharti Airtel, has resigned.He worked with
Airtelfor the past nine years. He was responsible for strategic planning of mobile network, providing strategic direction, deciding the network architecture and network vision for robust and scalable mobile network of Bharti Airtel. He lead the mobility network team, 3G strategy and planning team and WiMax deployment team and handled the planning, deployment, operations and maintenance of the largest GSM network in India with more than 100+ million customers.
Recently, TV Sriram, Head - network architecture, Bharti Airtel, has also resigned and joined
Wipro
Technologies as Business Head - Telecom for TIS (Technology Infrastructure Services).
With Jagbir's exit from India's leading service provider, Airtel seeks appropriate leader for the post in coming days. It is reliably learnt tht Jagbir would be joining a leading telco in a couple of weeks.
Jagbir was leading the 2G and 3G networks in Bharti's International ventures in Sri Lanka, Seychelles and Channel Islands in the UK. He was also the member of the Mobility Management Board which governs the mobility business in Bharti Airtel. At Bharti, he has driven the deployment of 30K Sites and 1.3 Mn Erlangs in 12 calendar month in 2007-08.
Prior to Airtel, Jagbir worked with Nortel (in Asia-Pacific role), Lucent Technologies and Defense Research & Development Organisation.
