The company said that it will move all its prepaid mobile customers nationally to the more affordable per second bill plan.

Under the new, 'Pay For What You Use' initiative, customers pay only for the time they use the Airtel network.

“While the company has been driving focused efforts to enhance customer experiences and its service delivery with initiatives such as rapid network expansion for 2G, 3G and 4G services, direct customer engagements for site locations, EMF education programs, constant network quality upgrade and monitoring etc, the “Pay For What You Use” initiative is yet another step in this direction,” the company said in a statement.

Though a majority of Airtel prepaid mobile customers were already on the per second billing plan, with this initiative the company will ensure that all the prepaid base is moved to the per second plan.

While customer’s standard base rate plans will be shifted to a pulse rate of per second, they will have the freedom to opt for additional tariff discount packs of their choice for discounted per sec or per minute benefits.
