Telecommunications services provider, Bharti Airtel today announced the launch of its 5G Plus services in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.
Airtel 5G Plus services will be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the roll-out. Customers with 5G-enabled devices will be able to access high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost until the rollout is more widespread. Airtel will augment its network, making its services available across all the cities in due course.
Commenting on the launch, Pushpinder Singh Gujral, CEO Upper North, Bharti Airtel said, “I am thrilled to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. Airtel customers in these three cities can now experience an ultrafast network and enjoy speeds up to 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds. We are in the process of lighting up all the cities which will allow customers to enjoy super-fast access to High-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more.”
In an effort to raise its average income per subscriber, Bharti Airtel raised the minimum tariff by a staggering 56% from Rs 99 to Rs 155 in November last year for 2 circles then imposed the same in 15 other circles towards the end of January this year, it is worth noting here that ever since the telco has started rolling out its 5G services, its active user base saw an addition despite the tariff hike.
According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) telecom subscriber data for December 2022, number of active subscribers for Bharti Airtel rose by 6 million during the same time as opposed to 0.7 million during the previous 6 months.
With this 5G launch in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula, the total number of Airtel 5G Plus cities goes to 137.All of Airtel’s retail locations nationwide now have 5G experience zones set up. the telco has taken the initiative to make the new technology easier to understand for users and enable them to fully appreciate the benefits of 5G. As noted by Airtel in its press release, all of the 1000+ stores will have specially trained executives who will not only demonstrate use cases but will also answer any concerns about 5G in addition to discussing Airtel’s own offers.
Airtel has by far covered over 20 states that now have Airtel 5G Plus services. The telco is gradually introducing its offerings while continuing to build the network. Users with 5G compatible smartphones can use the fast Airtel 5G Plus network without paying any extra amount until the roll-out is more widespread as all the current data plans are compatible with 5G technology.
