Accton Technology Corporation marks its entry into the telecom segment with
its latest VoIP gateways — the two port AC-VG3504-2FX0 and the four port
AC-VG3504-4FX0. The VoIP gateway is an ideal solution for companies that wish to
immediately reduce their long distance communication costs. These gateways
successfully switch the gap between PSTN and Internet/Intranet to enable
unlimited long distance calling in the following modes: phone-to-phone,
PC-to-phone and phone-to-PC.
These gateways convert voice to digital signals and transmit it to the remote
end through the Internet. The AC-VG3504 also provides interactive voice response
system to help users enter user IDs, passwords, remote telephone numbers and
remote IP addresses. The system also uses voice messaging to deliver current
status to the users and to help isolate problems. The AC-VG3504 complies with
ITU’s H.323 standard. It is also interoperable with other telephony gateways
and Internet phone softwares that comply with H.323 standard, such as Microsoft
NetMeeting. In addition, it offers the following compression standards: G.711,
G.723.1 (5.3K and 6.3K) and G.729.A. It can be connected to either the FXO or
FXS interface. The AC-VG3504 can be connected to a regular telephone line or a
PBX, without changing or discarding any existing equipment. It enables both VoIP
and normal calls. It can connect with the destination telephony gateway
automatically based on the phone number of the called party, and the user need
not know the actual IP address of the remote gateway.
To enhance voice quality, the AC-VG3504 provides echo cancellation and
comfort noise generation. It also generates the dial tone to enable the user to
get a feel of using a normal telephone. Apart from telephony capabilities, the
AC-VG3504 will record the usage of every phone call, which can be directed to
other applications such as billing and security, providing a useful facility in
this age of communication.
